I say this with my full chest: Writing is my hobby. Not my skill. Not my job. And if it weren't for fanfiction, my words would never hit a page. So that said, let's talk about why I love comic books and why I created this nerdy little series.

From the moment I got my hands on my first stack of comics at 9yrs old, superheroes became my language. I fell hard for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy — the swinging, the heart, the dorky sincerity of a kid trying to do the right thing even when it hurt. That version of Spider-Man lit a fire in me. I devoured every story I could find, never quite growing out of the thrill of watching him rise, fall, and rise again. I'm not sure who I'd be today if 9yr old me hadn't found Fanfiction.net. I can say this much; these stories and this series wouldn't exist.

As the years went on, I weaved in and out of the fanfic world, all while the Spider-Man/MCU movies shifted hands and tones. But my love for the characters never wavered — even when the studios made choices that left fans like me scratching our heads. Even when comic series became so upside down, I abandoned them all together. I stepped away from the MCU after Civil War, feeling like something vital had been lost… until Spider-Man: Homecoming pulled me right back in. There it was, my Spider-Man. Then Infinity War hit, and suddenly I was right back where I always belonged: rooting for a kid who believed in heroes, and for a man who never thought he could be one.

There's no shame in saying it: I’ve always been a sucker for the mentor/protector dynamic — those imperfect father figures and the kids who change them without trying — so the “Irondad” bond between Tony Stark and Peter Parker struck every emotional chord I had. Even though the MCU never fully explored that relationship the way many of us hoped, the connection between RDJ and Tom Holland made it real in a hundred subtle, powerful ways. The community it built shows that to be a fact.

So when Endgame wrapped things up in a direction that didn’t align with the found family "Avengers Assemble" team dynamic I'd been hoping for, I didn’t walk away again. Instead, I picked up my keyboard and built the universe I wanted to see.

In 2018, The Identity Saga was born: part love letter to the comics that raised me, part emotional therapy, and part celebration to the Marvel character's that I've grown to love and adore.

Now, as this saga approaches its conclusion in 2026, I look back in awe at what it’s become. What started as pure fandom passion has grown into a narrative that helped me refine my craft, rediscover my creativity, and embrace storytelling in a way I never realized I was capable of.

And to everyone who has read, commented, cried, theorized, or simply shown up for these characters alongside me — this story exists because you believed in it, and I’m forever grateful you’re here.
